The Birds of St. Ives

Am Ufer von St. IvesIt’s obvious that I’m an anglophile person. And deep down in my heart I’m fond of animals: fireflies cast their spell over me. I always used to think I loved birds, too. I’ve just come back from a research trip to Cornwall for a new novel. As a lucky coincidence I happened to follow in the footsteps of some famous male and female authors. My favourite place is St. Ives on the Northern coast, many of you will know the village from Rosamunde Pilcher novels and movies.

The setting is lovely, very romantic; five larger and smaller beaches within five minutes walking distance, and not only thousands of tourists but birds as well. Especially big and impressive sea gulls.

Before I reached St. Ives I visited Fowey, a small fishing village on the South coast. Daphne du Maurier lived there for many years in a tiny ferry house. Her son is still living there. That’s why you can’t go instead inside..Haus in St. Ives
